Emmy Winning Work
In 2008, Griffin Communications began contracting with Skyline Media Group to provide a series of distinctive spots on behalf on News9 in Oklahoma City and Newson6 in Tulsa to highlight various aspects of their news organization from weather to news to sports and beyond.
Winner of 3 Emmys
A collection of these early spots with News9 that ran in 2008 led to us winning a National Emmy Award. News9 also won accolades within local news affiliate organizations nationally, based on the idea that our work really set a new bar for promoting local news.
We’ve included samples of commercials for KWTV severe weather, along with a spoof of our commercial provided by Jon Stewart on the Daily Show. The wonderful exposure for KWTV and Gary England gained on the Jon Stewart show would not have been possible without strong social media to capture the attention of Daily Show producers. We facilitated thousands of hits and notoriety on YouTube. Then, the a-typical weather promo we created inspired a general buzz among national television affiliates and meteorologists on local news/meteorology blogs.
Launch of OK Sports Blitz Campaign
In 2009, our work with Griffin Communications grew to include many other spots, including our work on behalf of their Oksportsblitz.com. Our TV production/ad campaign development for this site involved different spots highlighting key Oklahoma sports for OU, OSU and the Oklahoma City Thunder. In these respective spots which you can review on the enclosed DVD, we feature OU legend, Billy Sims; OSU mascot Pistol Pete and for the Thunder, we spoofed the movie “Monsters Inc.” with mascot Rumble playing the role of a monster spending his off-season time in a closet, waiting for the games to return.
